Brilliant Communication

Speak with
authority.
Move people.

The gap between what a leader thinks they said and what the room actually heard is almost always wider than anyone will admit.

Most leaders assume
they communicate well.

Communication is the most underinvested capability in most leadership teams. Not because leaders don’t care — most do. But because most leaders have spent their careers being rewarded for what they know, not for how clearly they can make other people understand it.

The data is uncomfortable. Only 32% of UK employees rate their organisation’s communication as excellent. The organisations that score highest are not the ones with the slickest presentations or the most polished messaging. They are the ones where leaders communicate with kindness, are empathetic, and inspire their teams.

Every all-hands that lands flat. Every strategy that fails to stick. Every talent lost because they never felt heard. The cost of poor communication is almost never attributed to communication. It shows up as low engagement, poor execution, and cultural drift — and by the time those symptoms are visible, the communication failure happened months earlier.

Audience at a leadership communication session

Four areas where
communication decides everything.

Every engagement is different. But the moments where communication either unlocks or destroys performance tend to cluster around four areas. This is where we focus.

01

Presenting under pressure

Boardrooms, all-hands, investor meetings, conference stages. The moments when the stakes are highest and the window to land the message is shortest. We work on the craft, the composure, and the conviction that makes a presentation genuinely memorable — not just competent.

02

Strategic narrative and message architecture

Knowing what to say is one thing. Knowing what to say first, in what order, and why — in a way that creates clarity rather than noise — is a different discipline entirely. We help leaders build the narrative architecture that holds under scrutiny and travels across every audience.

03

All-hands, town halls and leadership communications

Speaking to the whole organisation is one of the most consequential things a leader does, and one of the most consistently underestimated. We work on the format, the framing, and the follow-through that transforms a company update into a moment the organisation actually remembers.

04

Communicating through change

The moments when poor communication costs the most are the moments of uncertainty, transition, and pressure. Restructures, pivots, leadership changes, difficult results. We help leaders communicate through these moments with the honesty, clarity, and humanity that preserves trust precisely when it is most fragile.

Three workshops.
Built for the moments
that matter most.

These are examples, not a catalogue. Every workshop is built around the specific moment, team, and challenge in front of us. What these examples give you is a sense of the work — the level, the focus, and the standard we hold ourselves to.

Example Workshop

Light the Public Speaking Fire

One day — Intensive, from 1:1 to up to 8 participants
Two days — Deeper rehearsal with extended coaching, up to 12 participants

The craft behind a talk the room remembers.

Built from the same approach that earned Brilliant Humans Founder, Jonathan Griffiths, the Professional Speaking Association’s Emerging Speaker of the Year. This is not a presentation skills course. It is a room where every attendee speaks, every attendee receives direct and honest feedback, and every attendee leaves with a rewritten section of their next real talk — and a clear, specific sense of their own speaking voice.

The work is built around three interconnected areas: connecting with yourself (owning your story and your voice), connecting with your audience (understanding what they need to hear and why it matters to them), and connecting with the talk itself (structure, pacing, and the moments that make a message land and stay). Most speaking development works on technique alone. This works on the full trilogy — because a talk that ignites a room requires all three.

Best for

Anyone who presents, pitches, or needs to inspire people with their words — from individual contributors preparing for their first big presentation to senior leaders preparing for keynotes, board sessions, investor pitches, town halls, or an external speaking platform. The 1:1 format is available for leaders who want intensive, private coaching ahead of a significant moment.

Example Workshop

The Executive Presence Reset

One day — Four core disciplines, individual coaching, live scenario work
Two days — Extended coaching, deeper scenario rehearsal, and video review

Show up in the room the way the room needs you to — without performing.

For senior leaders whose technical credibility is established but whose presence in high-stakes moments has not yet caught up with the role. This is the workshop for leaders who are brilliant in one-to-ones but inconsistent in front of a larger audience — or who know they hold back in the moments that most require them to step forward.

We work through four disciplines: thinking architecture (making your reasoning visible), narrative architecture (leading with the right point first), room dynamics (reading and shifting the energy in a meeting), and recovery (what to do when a question, curveball, or critic lands in a way you did not expect).

Best for

Newly promoted executives, founders moving into a CEO seat, and leaders preparing for a significant public-facing transition. Also valuable for leadership teams ahead of a board review, external funding round, or major organisational moment.

Example Workshop

Find Your Story

One day — Narrative discovery, positioning work, and message build
Two days — Includes team alignment and full narrative build

The story your organisation needs to tell — found, sharpened, and made yours.

Most leaders know their product and their numbers. Far fewer can explain, in a single compelling narrative, why any of it matters and why they are the ones to deliver it. The absence of that story is not a communications problem. It is a strategic vulnerability — one that costs you in fundraising conversations, hiring conversations, customer conversations, and every all-hands where people leave the room not quite sure what they are building towards.

This workshop builds that story from the ground up: the founding insight, the positioning argument, and the message that works across every audience. It is not a brand exercise. It is the work of finding the truest, sharpest version of what you are actually trying to do — and making it impossible to misunderstand.

Best for

Founders preparing for a fundraising round, a market pivot, or a significant external moment. Also highly effective for leadership teams where internal alignment and external messaging are both inconsistent — two problems that almost always share the same root cause.

“Talking is not the same as being heard. Delivering a message is not the same as moving people. The best communicators we know stopped trying to perform — and started to connect.

Why communication
is the highest-leverage investment.

Three independent global studies point in the same direction. The organisations performing best right now are not the ones with the sharpest strategy decks. They are the ones where leaders have learned to communicate in a way that actually moves people.

IC Index 2026

32%

Only 32% of UK employees rate their organisation’s communication as excellent. The organisations that score highest are those where leaders communicate with kindness, are empathetic, and inspire their teams.

IC Index 2026

−9pt

Trust in leadership fell 9 points in a single year across UK organisations. That is not an engagement problem. That is a communication failure at scale — and the cost shows up across every metric that matters.

Global Workplace Happiness Report 2026

37%

Only 37% of people feel genuinely cared for at work. Inspiration is the #1 driver of happiness at work — and inspiration requires communication that moves people, not merely informs them.

Three ways to work together.

We keep the engagement model simple. Three formats, each designed for a different moment. The workshops are often where things start — but the Advisory relationship is where the most significant change happens.

01

Workshop

1 to 2 days

A focused, facilitated session built around one of the four pillars — Leadership, Communication, Teams, or Marketing. Workshops are designed to shift thinking, surface what is really going on, and leave the team with something concrete to act on. They work best when there is a specific challenge, transition, or conversation that needs a dedicated space.

02

Programme

6 weeks to 6 months

A structured engagement with defined outcomes — focused on a single pillar or spanning multiple pillars in combination, depending on what the moment requires. Programmes are built around your organisation’s specific situation, not a template applied from the outside. They move at the pace that creates real change, not the pace that feels comfortable.

03

Advisory

Ongoing retained relationship

A retained relationship, typically 1–2 days per month, working across all four pillars as priorities evolve. Advisory works for founders and senior leaders who want a thinking partner with direct experience of the commercial and human challenges they are navigating — someone who can ask the questions that don’t get asked in the room.

Ready when you are

Every engagement
starts with a
conversation.

The first conversation is usually the most revealing one. Thirty minutes to explore what is really going on, and whether there is something worth building together.
